Title

Head: Finance & Admin

Programme

Finance and Admin support to all programmes of RIN and associated for-profit entities such as SIMMS and the proposed Rural Innovation Fund

Location

Chennai

Job Objective

To develop and implement a robust financial and administrative system that is Transparent, Accountable, Reliable and Agile (TARA)

Accountant, Executive-Admin

Qualification

Chartered Accountant or Cost Accountant. Company Secretaryship will be desirable though not mandatory

Experience (Years / Nature)

5-7 years

Knowledge

Understanding of statutory laws governing for-profit and not-for-profit companies related to RoC, Income Tax, FCRA, Service Tax, Sales tax/CST/VAT etc., Knowledge of setting up and running MIS systems will be preferred.

Skills

Fund raising skills, Accounting and Interpretation of financial statements, use of TALLY and/or other accounting software, to have used other MIS systems

Attitudinal competencies

The person should be systematic, organized and planned.

KRAs

1.       Accounts – Close RIN accounts before the 1st May of every year and ensure receipt of audit report before 1st June

2.       Finance – Identify 1 new donor (that fits with RINs mission) every year and ensure timely reporting to existing donors

3.       Finance and Admin Manual – develop, pilot and institutionalize a finance&admin manual

Activities

Accounts

-          Payments – verification of all payments in aspects such as approvals obtained, attachment of supporting documents such as bills/vouchers/quotation, adherence to budget head

-          Interpretation and Compilation of final accounts – compile monthly, quarterly and annual accounts and brief the CEO on the financial status once every month

-          Internal audit – facilitate internal audit and clarify issues raised

-          Statutory audit – facilitate audit and clarify on management letter issued by auditor. Implement recommendations made in the management letter.

Finance

-          Fund Raising – identify donor agencies and establish first contact with them

-          Donors - Reporting in the form of financial statements, Reviewing donor contracts, Management of committed grants such as follow-up on funding commitments from donors based on the grant contract signed and effective management of funds received

-          Bankers – opening/closing of RIN and staff accounts, renewal of fixed deposits, manage relationships

-          Budgeting – Developing annual work-plan budgets

-          Monitoring - Review budget heads on a quarterly basis and provide feedback to programme heads on under/over utilized heads and develop corrective action and/or undertake revised budgeting for the subsequent period

-          Corpus creation – develop a corpus fund

Admin

-          Statutory filings with RoC, IT, FCRA

-          Board of Directors – organize BoD meetings, write up board reports, compile minutes of BoD meetings

-          Assets management – purchase and manage all assets of RIN

-          Legal advise – obtain legal opinion in all important matters related to finance/admin

Systems

-          Develop, Pilot and Institutionalise a Finance & Admin manual

HR

-          Lead and Manage the Executive-Admin and Accountant
